Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated IV Certified Pharmacy Technician with expertise in sterile compounding to join our dynamic pharmacy team in Murrieta, California. This is a crucial role responsible for preparing and dispensing sterile medications, ensuring patient safety and adherence to strict regulatory guidelines. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of aseptic technique, quality control, and an unwavering commitment to excellence in pharmaceutical care. This position offers top pay for qualified candidates who demonstrate exceptional skill and experience in sterile compounding.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare sterile compounds, including intravenous admixtures, parenteral nutrition, and other sterile preparations, in compliance with USP 797 and 800 standards.
- Maintain a sterile compounding environment, performing routine cleaning and disinfection of sterile compounding areas and equipment.
- Perform calculations for drug dosages and dilutions accurately and efficiently.
- Manage inventory of sterile products and compounding supplies, including ordering, receiving, and proper storage.
- Conduct quality control checks and document all compounding activities thoroughly and accurately.
- Collaborate with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective medication delivery.
- Participate in ongoing training and education to stay current with best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with other pharmacy duties as assigned, ensuring efficient department operations.
Required Skills
- Active California Pharmacy Technician license
- IV Certification from an accredited program
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in sterile compounding within a hospital or institutional setting
- Proficient in USP 797 and USP 800 guidelines
- Strong aseptic technique and attention to detail
- Excellent mathematical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with automated dispensing systems (e.g., Pyxis, Omnicell)
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) by PTCB or NHA
