Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and reliable Day Surgery Porter to join our busy team at the Royal Surrey County Hospital. This vital role involves supporting the smooth operation of our Day Surgery unit by ensuring the safe and efficient movement of patients, equipment, and specimens. You will be an integral part of our healthcare team, contributing directly to patient comfort and operational efficiency. This is a fast-paced role, primarily covering morning shifts, ideal for an energetic individual who thrives in a dynamic environment and is committed to making a difference in patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely transport patients, including those with varying mobility levels, to and from the Day Surgery unit, wards, and other hospital departments.
  • Assist clinical staff with patient transfers, ensuring dignity and safety at all times.
  • Move equipment, specimens, medical records, and supplies efficiently throughout the hospital.
  • Ensure timely delivery of samples to laboratories and collection of blood products from blood banks.
  • Maintain cleanliness and readiness of trolleys, wheelchairs, and other transport equipment.
  • Communicate effectively and courteously with patients, visitors, and staff members.
  • Adhere strictly to all hospital policies, procedures, and health and safety guidelines.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns promptly.
  • Assist with basic ward duties as required to support the nursing team.

Preferred Qualifications
