Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Shopify Localization Specialist to join our dynamic e-commerce team in St. John’s, NL. This role is crucial for our global expansion efforts, focusing on adapting our Shopify online stores to resonate with diverse international audiences. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for cultural nuances, strong project management skills, and a deep understanding of the Shopify platform. You will be instrumental in ensuring our global customers have a seamless, relevant, and engaging shopping experience, driving our brand’s success in new territories.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end localization process for all Shopify store content, including product descriptions, marketing copy, UI elements, and promotional materials.
- Collaborate with marketing, product, and development teams to ensure localized content accurately reflects brand voice and messaging across all global markets.
- Oversee translation agencies and freelance translators, ensuring high-quality, culturally appropriate, and timely delivery of localized assets.
- Implement and optimize localization workflows and tools to improve efficiency and consistency.
- Conduct thorough quality assurance checks on localized content, identifying and resolving any linguistic, cultural, or technical issues.
- Stay informed about international e-commerce trends, language conventions, and cultural sensitivities to inform localization strategies.
- Monitor and report on the performance of localized content, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Manage localization budgets and timelines, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule and within scope.
- Contribute to the development of localization style guides and glossaries to maintain brand consistency globally.
Required Skills
- 2+ years of experience in e-commerce localization, content management, or a related field.
- Proven expertise with the Shopify platform and its localization capabilities (e.g., Shopify Markets, translation apps).
- Fluency in English and proficiency in at least one additional language (e.g., French, German, Spanish, Japanese, Mandarin).
- Strong understanding of cultural nuances and international market specificities.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
- Experience working with translation management systems (TMS) and other localization tools.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, Marketing, Communications, International Business, or a related field.
- Experience with A/B testing localized content.
- Familiarity with SEO best practices for international markets.
- Proven track record of driving successful localization initiatives for a global brand.
- Certification in localization or translation management.
