Job Description
Are you looking to kickstart your career in procurement and strategic sourcing? Tesco offers an exciting internship opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join our Corporate Buying team in Swansea. This role provides hands-on experience in the fast-paced retail environment, focusing on understanding and optimizing our supply chain and sourcing strategies. You will contribute to real projects, learn from experienced professionals, and gain valuable insights into how a major retailer manages its purchasing power. This is an on-site position based in our Swansea office.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in market research and supplier analysis to support sourcing initiatives.
- Participate in the negotiation process for new and existing contracts.
- Support the development and implementation of sourcing strategies for various product categories.
- Analyze purchasing data to identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., merchandising, supply chain) to ensure alignment on procurement goals.
- Prepare reports and presentations on procurement performance and project status.
- Contribute to maintaining strong supplier relationships and evaluating supplier performance.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a degree program related to Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, Economics, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a retail environment (even part-time).
- Understanding of basic procurement principles.
- Experience with data visualization tools.
- Fluency in an additional language relevant to international sourcing.
