Job Description
Are you ready to kickstart your career in a dynamic and essential industry? XPO Logistics is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our team as an Apprentice Truck Driver – 1st Year Trainee for local work in Pasco, Washington. This entry-level program is designed to provide you with the foundational knowledge and practical skills necessary to become a successful CDL Class A driver. You will receive comprehensive, hands-on training under the guidance of experienced professionals, learning everything from vehicle inspection and safety regulations to route planning and customer service. Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively in all classroom and on-the-road training sessions.
- Learn and strictly adhere to all federal, state, and company safety regulations.
- Assist experienced drivers with pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment.
- Familiarize yourself with local routes and delivery procedures.
- Operate commercial motor vehicles under direct supervision, as permitted by training progression.
- Maintain accurate logs and documentation, learning proper record-keeping practices.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and customers.
- Perform physical tasks required for loading, unloading, and securing freight safely.
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
Required Skills
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to obtain a Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP) prior to starting.
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen.
- Strong work ethic and a commitment to safety.
- Excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 pounds regularly.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Prior experience in a labor-intensive role or general customer service.
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
