Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Medication Aide in a skilled care environment. As a Medication Aide, you will play a crucial role in the well-being of our residents by accurately administering medications and assisting with daily care needs under the supervision of licensed nursing staff. Key Responsibilities
- Accurately administer prescribed medications to residents according to physician orders and established protocols.
- Observe residents for adverse reactions or side effects to medications and report any concerns to the supervising nurse immediately.
- Maintain precise and thorough documentation of medication administration, including dosages, times, and any relevant observations.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed, fostering a dignified and supportive environment.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with residents, family members, and the healthcare team.
- Adhere strictly to all infection control, safety, and facility policies and procedures.
- Participate actively in all required training, in-service programs, and professional development opportunities.
- Ensure a clean, safe, and organized medication storage area.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Strong desire and aptitude to learn medication administration protocols and patient care skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Demonstrated compassion, patience, and a resident-centered approach.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions meticulously.
- Basic computer literacy for electronic health record documentation.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or caregiver in a healthcare setting.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification.
- Familiarity with medical terminology.
