Job Description

Kier Group is seeking a dedicated and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team in St Austell, Cornwall. As a leading construction and infrastructure services company, we are committed to delivering high-quality projects that make a lasting impact. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to significant projects across the region, ensuring cost-effectiveness and successful project delivery from inception to completion. You will play a crucial role in managing all commercial aspects of construction projects, providing essential financial and contractual advice, and ensuring projects are delivered within budget and to the highest standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities.
  • Undertaking cost analysis for project work.
  • Performing risk and value management and cost control.
  • Advising on procurement strategy.
  • Identifying, analysing, and developing responses to commercial risks.
  • Preparing and analysing costings for tenders.
  • Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Valuing completed work and arranging payments.
  • Providing advice on contractual claims.
  • Writing detailed progress reports and financial forecasts.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.
  • Excellent understanding of construction contracts (JCT, NEC).
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant QS software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional negotiation and communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or working towards it.
  • Experience with projects in the public and private sectors.
