Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and energetic Part-time Stagehand to join our production team at the Stockton Arena, with a primary focus on weekend entertainment and night work. This role is crucial for the successful execution of various live events, including concerts, theatrical productions, and other entertainment spectacles. As a Stagehand, you will be responsible for the setup, operation, and teardown of stage equipment, lighting, sound, and scenic elements. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about live entertainment, comfortable with physical work, and available during evenings and weekends.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the loading and unloading of trucks, staging equipment, and scenic elements.
- Participate in the setup and teardown of stage platforms, risers, and other stage configurations.
- Operate follow spots, assist with lighting fixture rigging and focusing, and run cables.
- Support sound technicians with microphone placement, speaker setup, and cable management.
- Handle and move props, scenery, and set pieces safely and efficiently.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Communicate effectively with production management, crew, and other departments.
- Perform routine maintenance and inspection of stage equipment as required.
- Be available to work flexible hours, primarily evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on event schedules.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and move heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs) safely and regularly.
- Basic understanding of stage terminology and production processes.
- Proficiency with common hand tools and basic power tools.
- Strong work ethic and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Reliability and punctuality, especially for night and weekend shifts.
- Commitment to safety practices in a dynamic live event environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a stagehand, production assistant, or in a similar live event role.
- Familiarity with rigging principles and safety standards.
- Experience with sound, lighting, or video equipment setup and operation.
- Formal training or certification in stagecraft, technical theater, or a related field.
