Job Description

Are you looking for a hands-on role that makes a real difference to your community? Severn Trent Water is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Sewer Worker Trainee to join our team in Wolverhampton. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals eager to learn the vital skills required to maintain and repair our extensive wastewater network. You will receive comprehensive training and support to become a skilled professional in an essential service industry. No prior experience is required, just a willingness to learn, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to health and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist experienced sewer workers in the inspection, cleaning, and maintenance of sewer systems.
  • Learn to operate and maintain specialized equipment for wastewater management, including jetters and CCTV survey equipment.
  • Support with fault finding and and resolution of blockages and minor repairs within the sewer network.
  • Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company procedures.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development programs.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and equipment used.
  • Respond to emergency call-outs as required, under supervision.

Required Skills

  • Full UK driving license (essential for site travel)
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong commitment to health and safety.
  • Physical fitness and ability to work in various weather conditions and confined spaces.
  • Enthusiastic and willing to learn new skills.
  • Good communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of plumbing or groundwork (desirable but not essential)
  • NVQ Level 1 or 2 in relevant field (or working towards)
  • Experience in a physically demanding role.
