Job Description
Join the dynamic team at Walmart as a Pick and Pack Clerk specializing in General Merchandise. This full-time, on-site role is crucial to our distribution operations in the greater New Orleans metropolitan area, specifically in Elmwood, LA. You will be responsible for accurately selecting, packing, and preparing a wide range of general merchandise items for shipment, ensuring efficiency and precision in every order. This position requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and a commitment to maintaining our high standards of customer satisfaction and safety within our bustling warehouse environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately pick general merchandise items from warehouse shelves using order sheets and handheld scanners.
- Efficiently pack items into appropriate containers, ensuring proper cushioning and secure sealing to prevent damage during transit.
- Perform quality checks on products to verify item accuracy, quantity, and condition before packaging.
- Maintain organized inventory by ensuring products are placed in designated locations and reporting any discrepancies.
- Operate warehouse equipment, such as pallet jacks or carts, safely and efficiently (training provided as needed).
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and company policies to maintain a safe and productive work environment.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to meet daily order fulfillment goals and deadlines.
- Assist with loading and unloading shipments and general warehouse cleanup as required.
- Contribute to a positive and supportive team atmosphere.
Required Skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in order fulfillment.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Basic mathematical skills for counting and verifying quantities.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, lift (up to 50 lbs), bend, stoop, reach, and push/pull for extended periods.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as business needs dictate.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (6+ months) in a warehouse, distribution center, or retail environment.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems or RF scanning technology.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
