Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Remote Public Works Customer Support Specialist. This crucial role involves serving as the primary point of contact for D.C. residents and businesses regarding a wide range of public works services and inquiries. You will provide empathetic and accurate assistance, resolve issues, and ensure a positive experience for all interactions. This is a 100% remote position, offering flexibility and the opportunity to contribute to the well-being of the District from anywhere within the United States, as long as you can support Eastern Time Zone operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to customer inquiries via phone, email, and chat regarding public works services, including waste collection, street maintenance, parking enforcement, and special permits.
  • Diagnose and resolve customer issues efficiently and effectively, escalating complex cases to appropriate departments when necessary.
  • Provide accurate information on DPW policies, procedures, and service schedules.
  • Document all customer interactions and resolutions in the CRM system with meticulous detail.
  • Collaborate with various DPW divisions to ensure seamless service delivery and problem resolution.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism, empathy, and customer satisfaction in all interactions.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with DPW services and best practices.

Required Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Proficiency in using CRM software and standard office applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated empathy and patience when dealing with diverse customer inquiries and concerns.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Communications, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in a remote customer service or call center environment.
  • Familiarity with public works operations or local government services.
  • Bilingual proficiency (e.g., Spanish, Amharic, Mandarin) is a plus.
