Job Description
Eastern Health is seeking a compassionate and highly skilled Clinical Psychologist to join our dynamic Mental Health and Addictions team in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. This is a unique opportunity for qualified candidates who require visa sponsorship, as we are committed to facilitating the relocation and integration of talented professionals into our community and organization. The successful candidate will provide evidence-based psychological assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to individuals experiencing a wide range of mental health conditions. You will work within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment, contributing to the well-being of our diverse patient population and the continuous improvement of our services.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments and diagnostic formulations.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans utilizing evidence-based therapeutic interventions (e.g., CBT, DBT, ACT).
- Provide individual, group, and family therapy sessions.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, offering psychological insights and recommendations.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and timely patient records.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, community agencies, and support systems.
- Engage in continuous professional development and adhere to ethical and professional standards.
- Contribute to program development and quality improvement initiatives.
Required Skills
- Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology from an accredited university.
- Eligible for registration or currently registered with the Newfoundland and Labrador Psychology Board (NLPSB).
- Demonstrated experience in psychological assessment, diagnosis, and treatment across a range of mental health disorders.
- Proficiency in evidence-based therapeutic modalities.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to patient-centered care and ethical practice.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a public healthcare system or hospital setting.
- Specialization or advanced training in specific areas (e.g., trauma, addictions, child/adolescent psychology).
- Experience with diverse populations and cultural competencies.
- Familiarity with telepsychology services and digital health platforms.
