Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Oncology Registered Nurse to join our dedicated team in South Kensington, London. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced professional looking for an immediate start, with Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) provided for eligible international candidates. As an Oncology Registered Nurse, you will be instrumental in providing specialist nursing care to patients undergoing various cancer treatments, including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgical interventions. You will work within a multidisciplinary team, ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and clinical excellence. This role demands a commitment to continuous professional development and a genuine passion for making a positive impact on patients’ lives during a challenging time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administering chemotherapy and other oncology treatments safely and accurately, adhering to strict protocols.
  • Monitoring and assessing patient conditions, including managing side effects and complications of cancer treatment.
  • Providing comprehensive education and emotional support to patients and their families regarding their diagnosis, treatment plans, and self-care strategies.
  • Collaborating effectively with oncologists, consultants, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated care.
  • Maintaining accurate and detailed patient records, ensuring compliance with clinical governance and data protection policies.
  • Participating in ward rounds, multidisciplinary team meetings, and contributing to care planning.
  • Ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, adhering to infection control and health and safety guidelines.
  • Assisting with procedures such as bone marrow biopsies, PICC line insertions, and portacath management.

Required Skills

  • Valid NMC registration (Registered Nurse, Adult branch).
  • Minimum of 2 years post-registration experience in an oncology or haematology setting.
  • Demonstrable experience in administering chemotherapy and managing associated toxicities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to empathise and build rapport with patients and their families.
  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English to a high standard (IELTS/OET requirements for CoS applicants).
  • Evidence of continuous professional development in oncology nursing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-registration qualification in Oncology or Haematology nursing.
  • Experience with apheresis or stem cell transplantation.
  • Competency in cannulation and venepuncture.
  • Experience mentoring junior staff or students.
