Job Description

Water Music Recorders is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Studio Recording Engineer to join our team for night shifts. This is an exceptional opportunity for an individual passionate about audio fidelity and music production, ready to work with industry-leading recording equipment and software. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in engineering recording sessions, mixing, and mastering, and possess a keen ear for detail. You will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality audio production for a diverse roster of artists and projects during evening and overnight hours, contributing to our legacy of sonic excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain a wide array of top-tier recording consoles, microphones, and outboard gear.
  • Engineer recording sessions, ensuring optimal microphone placement, signal flow, and sound quality.
  • Mix and master tracks to professional industry standards, delivering high-quality final productions.
  • Collaborate effectively with artists, producers, and other team members to realize their creative vision.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues with recording equipment and software promptly.
  • Manage session data, including file organization, backups, and archival.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional studio environment during night shifts.

Required Skills

  • Proven expertise in audio engineering and music production.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard DAWs such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro X, and Ableton Live.
  • In-depth knowledge of analog and digital recording consoles (e.g., SSL, Neve, Avid ICON).
  • Strong understanding of acoustics, signal processing, and microphone techniques.
  • Exceptional critical listening skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently during night hours.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent certification in Audio Engineering, Music Production, or a related field.
  • Experience with vintage recording equipment and advanced mastering techniques.
  • A portfolio demonstrating successful recording, mixing, and mastering projects across various genres.
  • Familiarity with network audio protocols (Dante, Ravenna) is a plus.
  • Previous experience working night shifts in a professional studio setting.
