Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and physically fit Traffic Sign Installation Laborer to join our dynamic outdoor council team in Dorval. This crucial role involves the safe and efficient installation, maintenance, and repair of various traffic signs and street furniture across the municipality. You will be an integral part of ensuring public safety and clear navigation for residents and visitors alike. Key Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and maintain traffic signs, street signs, and other outdoor council fixtures according to established specifications and safety standards.
  • Prepare work sites, including digging post holes, mixing concrete, and operating various hand and power tools.
  • Load and unload materials and equipment from vehicles.
  • Assist with traffic control setup and breakdown at work sites to ensure public and crew safety.
  • Perform routine inspection of existing signs for damage, wear, or non-compliance.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage of tools and materials.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding project progress and any issues encountered.

Required Skills

  • Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks, including lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), bending, digging, and standing for extended periods.
  • Basic understanding and ability to use hand tools (e.g., shovels, post-hole diggers) and power tools (e.g., drills).
  • Strong work ethic and reliability.
  • Ability to work effectively in various outdoor weather conditions.
  • Commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Valid Class 5 (or equivalent) driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in construction, landscaping, public works, or a similar outdoor labor role.
  • Knowledge of local traffic sign regulations and standards.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Experience operating small construction equipment (e.g., skid steer, mini excavator).
