Job Description
Join RBC as a Remote Freedom of Information (FOI) Officer – Entry Level and embark on a rewarding career dedicated to transparency and information governance. You will play a crucial role in managing and responding to requests for information, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and internal policies. Key Responsibilities
- Receive, log, and acknowledge Freedom of Information (FOI) requests.
- Assist in the initial assessment and scoping of FOI requests.
- Collaborate with various internal departments to gather responsive records.
- Review and redact records in accordance with FOI legislation and privacy principles.
- Draft comprehensive response letters to FOI applicants.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of all FOI requests and responses.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of FOI processes and procedures.
- Stay informed about updates and changes to FOI and privacy legislation.
- Support senior FOI officers with complex cases and projects.
Required Skills
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a remote environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to accuracy and confidentiality.
- Basic understanding of data privacy principles and information governance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Legal Studies, Public Administration, Library and Information Science, or a related field.
- Familiarity with the Access to Information Act and/or Privacy Act (Canada) or similar provincial legislation.
- Experience with document management systems or electronic records management.
- Previous administrative or legal support experience.
