Job Description

Dow Inc. is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Lab Systems Specialist with a strong blend of IT expertise and chemistry knowledge to join our team in Katy, Texas. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, configure, and maintain LIMS (e.g., SampleManager LIMS) and other lab instrumentation software.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for lab systems, including user accounts, data integrity, and system performance.
  • Collaborate with laboratory scientists and IT professionals to gather requirements, design solutions, and implement system enhancements.
  • Develop and execute validation protocols for new LIMS functionalities and upgrades to ensure GxP compliance.
  • Train laboratory personnel on LIMS usage and best practices.
  • Create and maintain system documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and user manuals.
  • Participate in root cause analysis for system-related issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in laboratory information management and automation.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience with LIMS administration and configuration (e.g., Thermo Scientific SampleManager LIMS, LabWare LIMS).
  • Strong understanding of laboratory workflows, data management, and GxP (GLP/GMP) principles.
  • Proficiency in database management (SQL, Oracle) and reporting tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to translate technical requirements into user-friendly solutions.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related scientific/technical field.
  • Experience with other laboratory software such as ELN (Electronic Lab Notebook) or CDS (Chromatography Data System).
  • Project management experience in a lab or IT environment.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, R) for data analysis and automation.
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., LIMS certification, ITIL).
