Job Description

Are you an enthusiastic and reliable animal lover looking for a flexible opportunity to spend your days with furry friends? Metro Mutts is seeking a Dog Walker Assistant to join our dedicated team in Georgetown, Washington D.C. This neighborhood-based role offers flexible hours, perfect for someone who enjoys being active outdoors and making a positive impact on pets’ lives. You will assist our lead dog walkers, ensuring the safety, happiness, and well-being of the dogs under our care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist lead dog walkers with daily dog walks in various weather conditions.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all dogs, maintaining proper leash control.
  • Follow established walk routes and schedules efficiently.
  • Provide fresh water and basic care as needed during walks.
  • Communicate any observations or concerns about dogs to the lead walker.
  • Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of equipment and client homes (e.g., wiping paws, refilling water bowls).
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures regarding pet safety and client confidentiality.

Required Skills

  • Genuine love for animals and comfort working with dogs of all breeds and sizes.
  • Ability to walk for extended periods in various weather conditions.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the Georgetown neighborhood.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in pet care, animal handling, or customer service.
  • Knowledge of basic dog behavior and positive reinforcement techniques.
  • CPR and First Aid certification for pets.
  • Residency within or close to the Georgetown area.
