Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Private Piano Teacher to join our team in Montgomery Village, Santa Rosa. This role offers the flexibility to teach either in students’ homes, your private studio, or at our Santa Rosa School of Music studio, accommodating varying schedules and preferences. The ideal candidate will be passionate about teaching piano, possess excellent musical skills, and have the ability to inspire and motivate students of diverse backgrounds and ages, from beginners to advanced levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized lesson plans tailored to each student's age, skill level, and musical goals.
- Provide engaging and effective one-on-one piano instruction, covering technique, music theory, sight-reading, and performance.
- Track student progress, provide constructive feedback, and communicate regularly with students and/or parents regarding achievements and areas for improvement.
- Select appropriate repertoire that challenges and interests students, preparing them for recitals, exams, or personal enjoyment.
- Maintain a professional and supportive learning environment.
- Manage scheduling and logistics for lessons in agreement with students and the school.
Required Skills
- High level of proficiency in piano performance and pedagogy.
- Strong understanding of music theory, harmony, and sight-reading.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially with children and young adults.
- Patience, enthusiasm, and the ability to inspire students.
- Organizational skills for lesson planning and scheduling.
- Reliable transportation if opting for home-based lessons.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Music Performance, Music Education, or a related field.
- Previous experience teaching piano to a variety of age groups and skill levels.
- Experience preparing students for auditions, examinations (e.g., ABRSM, RCM), or recitals.
- Knowledge of various teaching methodologies and ability to adapt to different learning styles.
