Job Description

Are you passionate about sustainable urban development and eager to kick-start your career in transportation planning? AECOM is seeking a highly motivated Local Authority Transport Planner Trainee to join our dynamic team in Brickell, Miami. This entry-level position is designed for individuals with a keen interest in learning and contributing to the development of efficient, safe, and sustainable transport solutions for local authorities. You will gain hands-on experience in various aspects of transport planning, working closely with experienced professionals on diverse projects. This is an office-based role offering comprehensive training and mentorship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior planners with data collection and analysis for transport studies.
  • Contribute to the preparation of transport assessments, travel plans, and technical reports.
  • Support the development and evaluation of transport schemes and policies.
  • Learn to use transport modelling software and data visualization tools.
  • Participate in stakeholder engagement activities and public consultations.
  • Conduct site visits and field surveys as required.
  • Stay updated on relevant transport legislation, policies, and best practices.
  • Undertake general administrative tasks to support project delivery.

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Civil Engineering, Environmental Studies, or a related discipline (or currently pursuing final year).
  • Basic understanding of transport planning principles.
  • Experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with local Miami-Dade transportation networks.
