Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Junior Analytical Chemist to join our dynamic R&D team in Chicago. This is an exceptional entry-level opportunity for individuals passionate about analytical chemistry, even without prior hands-on experience with advanced instrumentation. We provide comprehensive, structured training on High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) from the ground up. You will contribute to critical projects by performing routine analytical tests, assisting in method development, and ensuring the quality and integrity of our research compounds and products.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive extensive training and master the operation and maintenance of HPLC and GC-MS instrumentation.
- Perform routine analytical testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products according to established protocols.
- Accurately record, analyze, and interpret experimental data, maintaining meticulous laboratory notebooks and electronic records.
- Assist in the preparation of samples and reagents, ensuring proper calibration and functionality of laboratory equipment.
- Contribute to troubleshooting analytical instrumentation issues under the guidance of senior chemists.
- Adhere strictly to all laboratory safety protocols, quality control procedures, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) or Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Quality Control, and Manufacturing.
- Participate in laboratory meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related scientific field.
- Strong foundational knowledge of general chemistry, organic chemistry, and analytical principles.
- Excellent attention to detail and precision in laboratory work.
- Demonstrated ability to learn new techniques and adapt to new technologies quickly.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior academic or internship experience in a laboratory setting.
- Familiarity with data analysis software or laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
- Understanding of pharmaceutical quality systems (e.g., GMP, GLP).
