Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and efficient Laundry Sorter to join our hotel services team in Thornton, CO. This routine work position is critical to maintaining the high standards of cleanliness and guest satisfaction that Marriott International is known for. As a Laundry Sorter, you will be responsible for the initial processing of soiled linens, towels, and uniforms, ensuring they are correctly sorted before washing. This role requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities
- Sort all soiled linens (sheets, towels, pillowcases, napkins, tablecloths, etc.) by type, color, and degree of soil.
- Inspect items for damage, stains, or foreign objects before processing.
- Remove any non-laundry items (e.g., silverware, guest belongings) found within soiled linen and report them.
- Place sorted items into appropriate carts or designated areas for washing.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area throughout the shift.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene standards and procedures.
- Assist with other laundry room duties as needed, including loading/unloading machines or folding.
- Communicate effectively with other laundry team members and supervisors.
Required Skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify different fabric types.
- Good organizational skills.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy bags or bundles of linen (up to 50 lbs).
- Basic understanding of safety procedures in a laundry environment.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Reliable and punctual work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a hotel laundry or similar industrial laundry setting.
- Familiarity with various types of hotel linens and their specific handling requirements.
