Job Description
Join North Dakota State University’s dynamic team as a Summer Music Camp Counselor! This is a fantastic seasonal opportunity for individuals passionate about music, education, and youth development. As a counselor, you will play a crucial role in creating a fun, safe, and enriching experience for campers attending our annual Summer Music Camp. This role involves supervising campers, assisting with musical activities, and ensuring a positive camp environment. Housing and meals are provided as part of this exciting summer position. We are looking for enthusiastic, responsible, and musically inclined individuals who are ready to make a significant impact on young musicians.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and mentor a group of campers during daily activities, rehearsals, and recreational time.
- Assist music faculty and instructors with classroom management and specific musical instruction as needed.
- Organize and lead recreational activities, games, and evening events.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all campers, adhering to all camp policies and procedures.
- Facilitate positive social interactions and conflict resolution among campers.
- Serve as a positive role model, demonstrating enthusiasm for music and camp life.
- Participate in daily staff meetings and training sessions.
- Assist with arrival, departure, and other logistical tasks as required.
- Report any concerns or incidents to camp leadership promptly.
Required Skills
- Strong passion for music and working with children/young adults (ages 8-18).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated responsibility, punctuality, and reliability.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain prior to camp start).
- Ability to reside on-site for the duration of the camp program.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current enrollment in or completion of a college-level music program.
- Prior experience as a camp counselor, tutor, or leader in youth programs.
- Experience playing a musical instrument or vocal performance.
- Knowledge of campus facilities and emergency procedures.
