Job Description

Are you a skilled and reliable individual with a knack for furniture assembly? The Home Depot Canada is seeking independent contractors to join our network as Furniture Assemblers for gig-based work. This is an exciting opportunity to utilize your skills across a variety of furniture brands, providing essential assembly services to our valued customers in the Kitchener area. Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble various types of furniture, including but not limited to, tables, chairs, cabinets, beds, and shelving units, according to manufacturer instructions.
  • Ensure all components are accounted for and properly assembled, paying close attention to detail and structural integrity.
  • Utilize appropriate tools and techniques to complete assemblies efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Conduct quality checks on all assembled items to ensure stability, functionality, and aesthetic appeal.
  • Communicate professionally with customers regarding assembly schedules, progress, and any potential issues.
  • Manage your time effectively to meet project deadlines and customer expectations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area during and after assembly.
  • Transport necessary tools and equipment to various customer locations.

Required Skills

  • Proven ability to read and interpret complex assembly instructions and diagrams.
  • Proficiency with common hand and power tools (e.g., screwdrivers, wrenches, drills).
  • Strong manual dexterity and physical stamina to handle furniture components.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to troubleshoot assembly challenges.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Reliable transportation to travel to customer locations within Kitchener.
  • Professional communication and customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in furniture assembly, carpentry, or a related trade.
  • Access to a comprehensive set of professional-grade assembly tools.
  • Experience with various furniture brands and types (e.g., IKEA, Sauder, Zinus).
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver heavy or awkward items safely.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
