Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Pediatrician to join our dedicated team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. This vital role involves providing expert medical care to infants, children, and adolescents, diagnosing and treating a wide range of medical conditions, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic patient care. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in our commitment to delivering exceptional healthcare services to the community of Leeds and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive medical care for pediatric patients from infancy through adolescence, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic conditions.
- Perform physical examinations, interpret diagnostic tests, and formulate appropriate treatment plans.
- Manage and coordinate patient care with other specialists, nurses, and allied health professionals.
- Communicate effectively and empathetically with patients and their families, providing education and support.
- Participate in on-call rotations and provide emergency pediatric care as required.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in compliance with Trust policies and GMC guidelines.
- Contribute to clinical audits, service development, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Supervise and mentor junior medical staff, medical students, and other healthcare trainees.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in pediatric medicine through continuous professional development and training.
Required Skills
- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a license to practice.
- Completion of specialist training in Paediatrics and holding a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent.
- Extensive experience in managing a diverse range of pediatric conditions in an acute hospital setting.
- Demonstrated ability to make sound clinical decisions under pressure.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-working skills.
- Commitment to patient safety and evidence-based practice.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Higher degree (e.g., MD, PhD) in a relevant field.
- Sub-specialty interest and experience (e.g., neonatology, cardiology, gastroenterology).
- Experience in clinical leadership or management roles.
- Previous involvement in medical education or research.
- Evidence of active participation in quality improvement projects or clinical audits.
