Job Description
Microsoft is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Remote Apple Technical Writer to join our Engineering Support team. This role is 100% remote, allowing you to work from anywhere. You will be responsible for creating, editing, and maintaining high-quality technical documentation for internal engineering teams, focusing specifically on products, tools, and services that interact with or are built for the Apple ecosystem (macOS, iOS, iPadOS, watchOS). The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Apple technologies, excellent writing skills, and the ability to translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation. This position requires close collaboration with engineers, product managers, and support teams to ensure accuracy and relevance of content.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including API guides, developer toolkits, integration guides, and internal engineering specifications, specifically for Apple platforms.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to understand product features, technical specifications, and development processes.
- Ensure all documentation is accurate, up-to-date, consistent in style and tone, and adheres to Microsoft's documentation standards.
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and accessible language for various technical audiences.
- Review and edit documentation produced by other team members for clarity, grammar, and technical accuracy.
- Manage documentation lifecycles, including version control, updates, and archival.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of documentation processes and tools.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Technical Writer, specifically with Apple technologies or platforms.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills in English.
- Strong understanding of macOS, iOS, and related Apple development tools (e.g., Xcode, Swift/Objective-C concepts).
- Ability to grasp complex technical concepts quickly and communicate them effectively.
- Experience with documentation tools (e.g., Confluence, GitHub, Markdown).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaborating with engineers and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, remote environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Technical Communication, English, or a related field.
- Experience with Microsoft products and services (e.g., Azure, Visual Studio) that integrate with Apple platforms.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
- Portfolio of technical writing samples, particularly related to Apple technologies.
- Experience with content management systems (CMS).
