Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Production Engineer to join our dynamic manufacturing team in Guildford. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in optimizing our production processes, ensuring the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and safety in the creation of our world-class vehicles. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the continuous improvement of our manufacturing operations, applying lean principles and innovative solutions to drive operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes, procedures, and layouts to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
- Identify and implement improvements in production methods, equipment performance, and quality control measures.
- Conduct root cause analysis for production issues and implement corrective and preventative actions.
- Collaborate with R&D, Design, and Quality teams to ensure seamless product introduction and adherence to design specifications.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and production standards.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and report on production efficiency, quality, and cost.
- Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
- Provide technical support and training to production operators and technicians.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a production or manufacturing engineering role, preferably within the automotive or high-tech manufacturing sector.
- Proven experience with Lean Manufacturing principles (e.g., Kaizen, 5S, Value Stream Mapping).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Experience with process FMEA and control plans.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
- Experience with automated manufacturing systems and robotics.
- Knowledge of advanced materials and composite manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) and ERP systems.
