Job Description

Rialto Arts Academy is seeking a passionate and skilled Part-time Woodwind Instructor specializing in Flute and Clarinet. This role involves providing engaging and effective one-on-one and small group instruction to students of varying ages and skill levels, from beginners to advanced players. The ideal candidate will be an expert musician with a strong pedagogical approach, committed to fostering a love for music and developing students’ technical proficiency and musical expression.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized lesson plans tailored to student needs and goals.
  • Provide expert instruction in flute and clarinet techniques, music theory, sight-reading, and performance practices.
  • Prepare students for recitals, auditions, and competitions as appropriate.
  • Assess student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback to students and parents.
  • Maintain a positive, encouraging, and disciplined learning environment.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and academy staff regarding student progress and scheduling.
  • Contribute to the academy's community by participating in student showcases and other events.

Required Skills

  • Expert proficiency in playing flute and clarinet.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching woodwind instruments to diverse age groups and skill levels.
  • Strong understanding of music theory, harmony, and ear training.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students.
  • Patience, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Music Performance, Music Education, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional teaching experience.
  • Experience with various pedagogical methods and curricula for woodwind instruments.
  • Performance experience in ensembles or as a soloist.
