Job Description
Rialto Arts Academy is seeking a passionate and skilled Part-time Woodwind Instructor specializing in Flute and Clarinet. This role involves providing engaging and effective one-on-one and small group instruction to students of varying ages and skill levels, from beginners to advanced players. The ideal candidate will be an expert musician with a strong pedagogical approach, committed to fostering a love for music and developing students’ technical proficiency and musical expression.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized lesson plans tailored to student needs and goals.
- Provide expert instruction in flute and clarinet techniques, music theory, sight-reading, and performance practices.
- Prepare students for recitals, auditions, and competitions as appropriate.
- Assess student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback to students and parents.
- Maintain a positive, encouraging, and disciplined learning environment.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and academy staff regarding student progress and scheduling.
- Contribute to the academy's community by participating in student showcases and other events.
Required Skills
- Expert proficiency in playing flute and clarinet.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching woodwind instruments to diverse age groups and skill levels.
- Strong understanding of music theory, harmony, and ear training.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire students.
- Patience, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Music Performance, Music Education, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional teaching experience.
- Experience with various pedagogical methods and curricula for woodwind instruments.
- Performance experience in ensembles or as a soloist.
