Job Description

Join NextEra Energy Resources as a Wind Farm Maintenance Technician and be a vital part of our mission to deliver clean energy. We are seeking dedicated and skilled individuals to maintain and troubleshoot our advanced wind turbine technology. You will work on-site at our wind farms, ensuring peak performance and reliability of our turbines through proactive maintenance and rapid response to operational issues. This is a hands-on role requiring a strong commitment to safety, technical aptitude, and a willingness to work in diverse weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on wind turbine generators and associated equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems within wind turbines.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance according to manufacturer specifications and company policies.
  • Utilize computer-based diagnostic tools and software to analyze turbine performance and identify faults.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, Lockout/Tagout procedures, and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and component replacements.
  • Assist with major component replacement (gearboxes, generators, blades) as needed.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance technical skills.
  • Communicate effectively with site management, control room operators, and other technicians.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience or vocational training in electrical, mechanical, or hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and specialized testing equipment.
  • Strong understanding of safety procedures and willingness to work at heights (up to 300 feet).
  • Physical ability to climb ladders, lift heavy objects, and work in confined spaces.
  • Basic computer literacy for data entry and diagnostic software use.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various wind farm sites.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or technical certification in Wind Energy Technology, Electrical Systems, or a related field.
  • Previous experience working on wind turbines or in a similar industrial maintenance role.
  • Familiarity with various SCADA systems.
  • GWO (Global Wind Organisation) certifications (Working at Heights, First Aid, Manual Handling, Fire Awareness, Sea Survival) or ability to obtain them.
  • Experience with medium voltage systems.
