Job Description

Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients on assigned units during Saturday and Sunday shifts, adhering to UCSF Health standards and protocols.
- Administer medications, perform treatments, and conduct assessments in accordance with physician orders and nursing best practices.
- Monitor patient conditions, document observations accurately, and report changes to the medical team promptly.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment plans, and post-discharge care.
- Respond to emergencies and provide immediate care as needed, maintaining a calm and effective presence.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, adhering to infection control and safety policies.
Required Skills
- Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required depending on specialty.
- Demonstrated strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
- Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in an acute care setting (e.g., Med-Surg, Telemetry, ICU, ER).
- Specialty certification relevant to the clinical area (e.g., PCCN, CCRN).
- Experience working weekend or evening shifts.
