Job Description
As a Weekend Patrol Officer focusing on Local Council contracts in Lincoln Park, Chicago, you will play a crucial role in maintaining safety and security within designated community areas. This part-time position is ideal for individuals seeking stable weekend employment and who are committed to public safety and community engagement. You will be responsible for visible patrols, responding to incidents, and ensuring compliance with local regulations and client protocols, contributing to the peace of mind of residents and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular patrols of designated areas on foot and/or by vehicle to deter crime and ensure security.
- Monitor premises, property, and personnel for suspicious activity, trespassers, or safety hazards.
- Respond promptly and effectively to alarms, emergencies, and calls for service.
- Prepare detailed incident reports, daily activity logs, and other required documentation.
- Enforce local council regulations and client-specific security protocols.
- Provide visible deterrence and maintain a professional and vigilant presence.
- Assist in crowd control and traffic management during community events, as needed.
- Collaborate with local law enforcement and emergency services when necessary.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid PERC card (Illinois Private Alarm Contractor, Private Detective, Private Security Contractor, or Security Guard License).
- Minimum 1 year of security or relevant experience (e.g., military, law enforcement, public safety).
- Excellent observational and reporting skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical ability to perform duties, including prolonged standing, walking, and occasional lifting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Criminal Justice or related field.
- CPR/First Aid certification.
- Previous experience in a community patrol or local government security role.
- Knowledge of local ordinances and community safety initiatives in Chicago.
- Ability to operate security technology and communication equipment.
