Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Ward Support Porter to join our busy team, working Monday to Friday during daytime hours. This vital role involves providing essential logistical support to clinical areas, ensuring the safe and efficient movement of patients, equipment, specimens, and supplies throughout the hospital. You will be a key part of our healthcare team, contributing directly to the smooth running of our wards and patient experience. This is an on-site position, crucial for supporting our hospital operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and respectfully transport patients via wheelchairs, trolleys, or beds between wards, departments, and diagnostic areas.
- Move medical equipment, beds, furniture, and other items as required.
- Deliver and collect specimens, blood products, and pharmacy items.
- Transport deceased patients to the mortuary with dignity and respect.
- Collect and dispose of waste, including clinical waste, in accordance with hospital procedures.
- Ensure a clean and tidy working environment, particularly concerning portering equipment.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, and staff.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and infection control policies.
- Respond promptly to requests from wards and departments, prioritizing tasks effectively.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a portering or healthcare support role.
- Experience working in a hospital or similar care environment.
- Manual handling training certificate.
- Basic First Aid knowledge.
