Job Description
Join Capgemini as a Virtual Website Accessibility Tester and contribute to making the digital world inclusive for everyone. This 100% remote role involves meticulously testing websites and digital platforms to identify accessibility barriers, primarily utilizing screen readers and other assistive technologies. You will play a crucial role in ensuring our clients’ digital products meet the highest accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG 2.1 AA) and provide an equitable user experience for individuals with disabilities. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive accessibility testing on websites and web applications using various assistive technologies, with a strong focus on screen readers (e.g., JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver).
- Identify, document, and prioritize accessibility defects in a clear and concise manner, providing detailed steps for reproduction and potential solutions.
- Collaborate closely with development and design teams to explain accessibility issues and advocate for inclusive design principles.
- Stay current with WCAG guidelines (2.1 and upcoming 2.2) and other relevant accessibility standards and best practices.
- Participate in accessibility reviews of wireframes, prototypes, and user stories.
- Provide constructive feedback and recommendations to improve accessibility throughout the development lifecycle.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing processes and methodologies.
Required Skills
- Demonstrable experience using at least one major screen reader (e.g., JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver) for web browsing and interaction.
- Understanding of WCAG 2.1 (AA level) principles and success criteria.
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript as they relate to web accessibility.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to articulate complex accessibility issues.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently in a remote environment.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a dedicated accessibility testing role.
- Familiarity with other assistive technologies (e.g., keyboard navigation, speech recognition software).
- Knowledge of accessibility testing tools (e.g., axe DevTools, Lighthouse, WAVE).
- Understanding of ARIA roles and properties.
- Relevant accessibility certifications (e.g., CPACC, WAS).
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
