Job Description
Are you looking for an active weekend role that keeps you fit and allows you to work outdoors? Gloucestershire Grounds Management is seeking enthusiastic and reliable Turf Layer Assistants to join our team for weekend projects. This role involves the physical laying of turf, preparing ground, and assisting our skilled landscapers in creating stunning green spaces. It’s a fantastic opportunity for individuals who enjoy hands-on work, want to stay active, and are eager to contribute to high-quality landscaping projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare ground surfaces for turf installation, including leveling and clearing debris.
- Unload, transport, and lay rolls of turf carefully and efficiently.
- Ensure turf is laid correctly, making accurate cuts and fitting edges seamlessly.
- Assist with other landscaping tasks as required, such as planting, mulching, or minor construction.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all health and safety guidelines.
- Operate basic landscaping tools and equipment under supervision.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to complete projects on schedule.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy rolls of turf (up to 20kg) and perform strenuous tasks.
- Reliability and punctuality for weekend shifts.
- Strong work ethic and a proactive attitude.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work as part of a team.
- Enthusiasm for outdoor work, regardless of weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in landscaping, gardening, or other outdoor manual labour roles.
- Basic knowledge of turf laying techniques or willingness to learn quickly.
- Full UK driving license and access to reliable transportation.
