Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Synthesis Chemist with a strong focus on organic chemistry to join our dynamic R&D team. This role is crucial for developing and optimizing synthetic routes for novel compounds, contributing to the advancement of our innovative product pipeline. The successful candidate will be instrumental in the laboratory, executing multi-step organic syntheses, purifying intermediates and final products, and characterizing their structures. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects in a collaborative environment. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute multi-step organic synthesis reactions for target compounds.
- Optimize reaction conditions to improve yield, purity, and efficiency.
- Perform purification techniques including column chromatography, recrystallization, and distillation.
- Characterize synthesized compounds using analytical techniques such as NMR, Mass Spectrometry, IR, and HPLC.
- Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks and prepare technical reports.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams including analytical chemists and biologists.
- Adhere to strict safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment.
- Stay updated with current scientific literature and apply new methodologies to ongoing projects.
Required Skills
- Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or a related field (or Master's degree with equivalent experience).
- Proven expertise in multi-step organic synthesis.
- Strong understanding of reaction mechanisms and retrosynthetic analysis.
- Proficiency in modern spectroscopic and chromatographic techniques for compound characterization (NMR, MS, HPLC).
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot synthetic challenges and develop creative solutions.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with flow chemistry or parallel synthesis.
- Knowledge of drug discovery and development processes.
- Experience working in a cGMP environment.
- Proficiency in using chemical drawing software (e.g., ChemDraw) and literature search tools.
