Job Description
Join VHB as a Structural Engineer and contribute to innovative projects that shape our built environment. This role offers an exceptional opportunity for talented professionals to apply their expertise in structural analysis, design, and project management. We are specifically seeking candidates who may require LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment) and skilled worker visa sponsorship, and we are committed to supporting qualified international applicants through the immigration process. You will be instrumental in designing and analyzing structural components for a variety of projects, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with all relevant codes and standards. This is a full-time, on-site position based in our South Burlington, VT office, where you will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver impactful solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis and design for buildings, bridges, and other infrastructure projects using industry-standard software.
- Prepare detailed structural drawings, specifications, and reports.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to assess existing conditions and monitor construction progress.
- Collaborate with architects, civil engineers, and other project stakeholders to integrate structural designs.
- Ensure all designs comply with local, state, and federal building codes, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources effectively.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Participate in client meetings and presentations.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Proven experience in structural analysis and design software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, RAM Structural System)
- Strong understanding of building codes (e.g., IBC, ASCE 7) and material design codes (e.g., ACI, AISC)
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Structural Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain one within 12 months
- Experience with bridge design (AASHTO LRFD)
- Familiarity with LEED or sustainable design principles
- Previous experience working on projects in New England
