Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and self-motivated Sprinter Van Owner Operators to partner with Old Dominion Freight Line for our expedited freight services. This is an exciting opportunity for entrepreneurs who own or are ready to acquire a Sprinter van and wish to leverage their independence within a strong, established freight network. You will be responsible for the safe and timely transportation of high-priority, time-sensitive shipments, playing a crucial role in our commitment to exceptional service. Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain a Sprinter van in compliance with all DOT regulations and company standards.
- Execute timely and secure pickup and delivery of expedited freight, often with urgent deadlines.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local driving laws and safety regulations.
- Manage logbooks, vehicle inspections, and other required documentation accurately.
- Communicate proactively with dispatch and customers regarding shipment status and potential delays.
- Represent Old Dominion Freight Line professionally in all interactions.
- Ensure the security and integrity of freight during transit.
Required Skills
- Possession of a valid US driver's license (CDL not typically required for Sprinter vans, but knowledge of DOT regulations is a must).
- Minimum of 2 years of commercial driving experience.
- Clean driving record with no major violations.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage independent business operations, including fuel, maintenance, and insurance.
- Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in expedited freight or time-sensitive deliveries.
- Experience as an owner-operator.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for routine vehicle checks.
- Ability to adapt to fluctuating schedules and urgent requests.
