Job Description

Northrop Grumman is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Specialized Instrument Operator to join our team in West Valley City, Utah. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the accurate operation, calibration, and maintenance of advanced specialized instruments used in the production and testing of critical aerospace and defense components. Your focus on high accuracy and strict adherence to operational protocols will be paramount to ensuring the quality and reliability of our products. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate specialized, high-accuracy instruments and equipment according to established procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Perform routine calibration, verification, and minor maintenance on instrumentation to ensure optimal performance and accuracy.
  • Monitor instrument output, record precise data, and identify any anomalies or deviations from specifications.
  • Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and operational manuals to set up and execute testing protocols.
  • Conduct thorough quality checks on components and finished products using specialized measurement tools.
  • Troubleshoot instrument malfunctions and implement corrective actions under supervision or in collaboration with engineering staff.
  • Maintain accurate logs, documentation, and reports of operations, test results, and instrument status.
  • Adhere strictly to all quality assurance standards, safety regulations, and cleanroom protocols as required.
  • Collaborate effectively with engineers, technicians, and production teams to optimize processes and resolve technical issues.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for enhanced accuracy, efficiency, and safety.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to operate and maintain complex precision instruments.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to high accuracy in all tasks.
  • Strong mechanical and technical aptitude, with an understanding of measurement principles.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical documentation, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry, analysis, and report generation.
  • Problem-solving skills to diagnose and address minor instrument issues.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or technical certification in Instrumentation, Electronics, Metrology, or a related field.
  • Experience in an aerospace, defense, medical device, or other high-precision manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100).
  • Experience with specific metrology software or data acquisition systems.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
