Job Description
Are you passionate about empowering young people and guiding them towards a brighter future? Big Brothers Big Sisters of America is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Remote Youth Empowerment Aide to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will provide crucial virtual support and mentorship to teenagers, helping them navigate challenges, set goals, and build self-confidence. Key Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain consistent, positive virtual relationships with assigned mentees.
- Provide one-on-one virtual guidance and support to teenagers, addressing their social, emotional, and academic needs.
- Facilitate goal-setting discussions and help mentees develop action plans for personal and academic success.
- Connect mentees with relevant online resources and opportunities for development.
- Monitor mentee progress and well-being, reporting any concerns to program supervisors.
- Organize and lead virtual group activities and workshops focused on life skills, career exploration, and positive decision-making.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of mentee interactions and program activities.
- Collaborate with other team members and community partners to enhance mentee support.
- Adhere to all organizational policies and safety guidelines for virtual interactions.
Required Skills
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Strong empathy, patience, and ability to build rapport with teenagers.
- Proficiency in using virtual communication platforms (e.g., Zoom, Google Meet).
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
- Demonstrated commitment to youth development and empowerment.
- Basic understanding of adolescent psychology and common youth challenges.
- Reliable internet connection and suitable home office environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Education, or related field.
- Previous experience in mentoring, coaching, or working with youth.
- Familiarity with goal-setting frameworks and motivational interviewing techniques.
- Experience in virtual program delivery or online community management.
- Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish) is a plus.
