Job Description
As a Senior Pharmacy Technician and Team Lead for Professional Benefits, you will play a crucial role in leading a team focused on the intricate world of pharmacy benefits. You will oversee daily operations, ensure adherence to quality standards, and provide advanced technical support to both your team and our members. This position requires deep knowledge of pharmacy benefit management, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to member satisfaction. You will be responsible for resolving complex issues related to benefits, prior authorizations, and claims, while also mentoring junior technicians and contributing to process improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of Pharmacy Technicians, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
- Oversee daily workflow and operations within the professional benefits department to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
- Resolve complex pharmacy benefit inquiries, prior authorization issues, and claims discrepancies.
- Act as a subject matter expert for all professional benefits programs, policies, and procedures.
- Collaborate with pharmacists, clinical staff, and other departments to optimize member care and benefit utilization.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as internal policies.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of new processes and training materials.
- Handle escalated issues from team members and members, providing prompt and effective resolutions.
- Perform quality assurance checks on team output and provide corrective coaching as needed.
Required Skills
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) national certification.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician, with at least 1 year in a lead or supervisory role.
- In-depth knowledge of pharmacy benefit management (PBM) operations, including prior authorizations, claims processing, and formulary management.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in pharmacy software systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to analyze complex information and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Experience with OptumRx or other large-scale PBM platforms.
- Knowledge of various health plan designs and benefit structures.
- Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement certification.
