Job Description
Are you looking for a meaningful way to contribute to your community with a flexible schedule? First Student in Arlington, VA, is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as School Bus Drivers. No prior experience? No problem! We offer comprehensive, paid training to help you obtain your Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with passenger and school bus endorsements. This role is perfect for retirees, empty-nesters, or anyone looking for a rewarding part-time career that makes a real impact. Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport students to and from school and other designated locations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus to ensure operational safety.
- Maintain a clean and orderly bus interior.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and school district regulations.
- Interact positively with students, parents, and school staff.
- Manage student behavior on the bus in accordance with company policies.
- Attend ongoing training and safety meetings.
Required Skills
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Clean driving record.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience and a strong commitment to safety.
- Ability to work a split shift (morning and afternoon routes).
- Must be eligible to obtain a CDL with S and P endorsements (training provided).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with children or in a customer service role.
- First Aid and CPR certification (will provide training if needed).
- High school diploma or GED.
- A friendly and positive attitude.
