Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and professional Retail Distribution Driver to join our team for local night shifts in Millcreek, UT. This position offers premium pay for experienced drivers committed to safely and efficiently delivering goods to our diverse customer base. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for transporting a wide variety of food products, ensuring they arrive on schedule and in excellent condition. This role requires adherence to all DOT regulations, company policies, and a strong commitment to customer service and safety. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a commercial vehicle (tractor-trailer) during assigned night shifts, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and report any defects or maintenance needs promptly.
- Load and unload products using appropriate equipment (e.g., hand trucks, pallet jacks) and ensure accurate product counts.
- Verify product quantities and condition against delivery invoices; obtain proper signatures on delivery receipts.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, warehouse personnel, and customers regarding delivery schedules and any issues.
- Maintain accurate driving logs, vehicle inspection reports, and other required paperwork.
- Adhere to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety standards.
- Represent Sysco professionally at all times, upholding our commitment to excellent customer service.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL A)
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) verifiable commercial driving experience
- Clean driving record (MVR) with no major infractions
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 lbs regularly and perform physical tasks associated with loading/unloading.
- Ability to work night shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with food service distribution or retail delivery.
- Experience operating various types of material handling equipment (e.g., electric pallet jacks).
- Familiarity with the Millcreek, UT, and surrounding Salt Lake County area routes.
- High school diploma or GED.
