Job Description

Are you a compassionate and reliable individual looking for meaningful weekend work? Home Instead is seeking dedicated Respite Care Aides to provide essential support to families in Portland, Oregon. This casual weekend position offers immediate hire opportunities for individuals passionate about helping others and providing relief to primary caregivers. As a Respite Care Aide, you will offer temporary relief to family caregivers by providing direct support and care for their loved ones, ensuring their safety and well-being. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate companionship and emotional support to clients.
  • Assist clients with personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
  • Help with light housekeeping duties, such as tidying living areas and laundry.
  • Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding, if necessary.
  • Administer medication reminders and assist with mobility and transfers.
  • Engage clients in stimulating activities, hobbies, and conversation.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for the client.
  • Communicate regularly with the care team and family members regarding client status and needs.
  • Document care provided and any observed changes in the client's condition.

Required Skills

  • Proven empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to help others.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliability and punctuality, especially for weekend shifts.
  • Ability to follow care plans and instructions accurately.
  • Successful completion of a background check and drug screening.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Legal eligibility to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in caregiving, personal care, or a related field (formal or informal).
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to adapt to various home environments and client needs.
