Job Description
We are seeking a reliable and compassionate Radiology Department Porter to join our busy team at the Royal Berkshire Hospital. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of patients, equipment, and specimens within the Radiology Department and to other areas of the hospital. This is a crucial support position that ensures the smooth operation of our imaging services, contributing directly to patient care and departmental efficiency. You will work closely with clinical staff, patients, and visitors, requiring excellent communication skills and a commitment to maintaining a safe and clean environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport patients, often on trolleys or in wheelchairs, to and from the Radiology Department for various scans and procedures.
- Move and deliver radiology equipment, medical notes, specimens, and other items as required throughout the hospital.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and tidy environment within the Radiology Department, ensuring patient safety and infection control standards are met.
- Provide a friendly and reassuring presence for patients, often in stressful situations.
- Liaise effectively with nurses, radiographers, doctors, and other departmental staff to coordinate movements and tasks.
- Respond promptly to requests for portering services, managing time efficiently in a dynamic environment.
- Adhere to all Trust policies and procedures, including those relating to health and safety, manual handling, and patient confidentiality.
