Job Description
We are seeking a highly meticulous and dedicated QA Laboratory Specialist to join our team in West Valley City. This is a crucial role focused on maintaining the highest standards of quality assurance within our laboratory operations. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional attention to detail, a strong understanding of laboratory processes, and a commitment to accuracy and compliance. This position offers a stable Monday-Friday schedule, contributing to critical diagnostic services.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily quality control checks and calibrations on laboratory equipment and instrumentation according to established protocols.
- Monitor and evaluate laboratory test results for accuracy, precision, and adherence to quality standards.
- Investigate and document any deviations, non-conformances, or out-of-specifications results, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of all QA activities, including control charts, calibration logs, and incident reports.
- Participate in internal and external audits, ensuring all laboratory practices meet regulatory requirements (e.g., CLIA, CAP, FDA).
- Assist in the development, implementation, and revision of quality control procedures and documentation.
- Provide training and support to laboratory staff on QA principles and best practices.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to continuous quality enhancement initiatives.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a clinical or diagnostic laboratory setting with a focus on quality assurance.
- Strong understanding of laboratory instrumentation, methodologies, and quality control principles.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in laboratory information systems (LIMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) by ASCP or equivalent.
- Experience with Lean Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements such as CLIA, CAP, and FDA guidelines for diagnostic laboratories.
- Master's degree in a scientific or quality management field.
