Job Description
Aramark Canada is seeking a dedicated and responsible Prison Cafeteria Server to join our team in an institutional setting in Collingwood, Ontario. This vital role involves providing meal services to inmates, ensuring compliance with strict safety, sanitation, and security protocols. As a member of our food service team, you will contribute to a structured and secure environment, upholding high standards of service and operational efficiency. A comprehensive background check and security clearance are mandatory requirements for this position. This is an on-site role that requires consistent adherence to facility rules and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a variety of meals and snacks according to established menus, recipes, and dietary requirements.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen, serving, and dining areas, including washing dishes and kitchen equipment.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, ranges, mixers, and dishwashers.
- Monitor food inventory, assist with stock rotation, and report supply needs.
- Adhere strictly to all security protocols, institutional policies, and food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP).
- Interact with inmates in a professional, respectful, and controlled manner while enforcing rules and maintaining order during meal service.
- Assist with waste management and proper disposal of food waste and refuse.
- Participate in mandatory regular training sessions on food safety, security, and institutional procedures.
- Report any security concerns, equipment malfunctions, or incidents to supervisory staff promptly.
Required Skills
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and obtain required security clearance.
- Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation principles (e.g., Food Handler's Certificate or equivalent).
- Ability to work effectively and remain composed in a structured, high-security institutional environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Basic knowledge of kitchen operations and food preparation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in food service, particularly in institutional, healthcare, or correctional facilities.
- Current Food Handler's Certificate.
- Experience working in a regulated or security-sensitive environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
