Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Pipeline Operator to join our team in the Houston Metro Area. This is a stable position involved with a long-term government contract, ensuring consistent work and career stability. The Pipeline Operator will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of pipeline systems, including monitoring, control, and maintenance activities to ensure the uninterrupted flow of products while adhering to all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor pipeline operations using SCADA systems, ensuring optimal flow, pressure, and temperature within specified parameters.
  • Perform routine inspections of pipeline facilities, including valves, pumps, compressors, and instrumentation.
  • Respond to and troubleshoot operational alarms and upsets, initiating appropriate corrective actions or emergency procedures.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance tasks on pipeline equipment and facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, federal regulations (e.g., DOT, OSHA), and environmental standards.
  • Participate in emergency response drills and actual emergency situations, acting quickly and effectively.
  • Complete and maintain accurate operational logs, reports, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with other operators, technicians, and supervisory personnel to optimize system performance.
  • Identify and report potential safety hazards or environmental concerns.
  • Assist with pigging operations, line integrity inspections, and other specialized pipeline activities.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in pipeline operations or a related field.
  • Proficiency with SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems.
  • Strong understanding of pipeline hydraulics and flow dynamics.
  • Knowledge of DOT pipeline safety regulations (e.g., 49 CFR Part 192, 195).
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and operational procedures.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate company vehicles.
  • Physical ability to perform duties in various weather conditions, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in confined spaces or at heights.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or technical certification in Process Technology, Instrumentation, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with natural gas, crude oil, or refined products pipelines.
  • HAZWOPER certification.
  • Previous experience working on government contracts or within a highly regulated environment.
  • Basic mechanical and electrical maintenance skills.
