Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and empathetic Pharmacy Triage Technician to join our team in a Long-Term Care (LTC) environment. This full-time position operates Monday through Friday, focusing on the critical initial assessment and prioritization of prescription orders and patient inquiries. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our residents receive timely and accurate medication services.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize incoming prescription orders, refill requests, and patient inquiries via phone, fax, and electronic systems.
- Verify patient demographics, insurance information, and medication history.
- Communicate effectively with prescribers, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to clarify orders or resolve issues.
- Document all communications and actions accurately in the pharmacy system.
- Escalate complex issues or clinical questions to a licensed pharmacist.
- Assist in managing prescription queues and ensuring workflow efficiency.
- Maintain strict adherence to all HIPAA regulations and pharmacy compliance standards.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Current Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) required by the state of Texas
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician, preferably in a retail or LTC setting
- Proficiency with pharmacy software systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Frameworks or similar LTC pharmacy software
- Associate's Degree in a related field
- Familiarity with long-term care regulations and procedures
