Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Support Worker (PSW) to provide essential in-home care for a private household in Newport, Rhode Island. This role is crucial for enabling our client to live comfortably and independently within their own home. You will be responsible for assisting with daily living activities, ensuring a safe and supportive environment, and offering companionship. This position offers consistent hours and the convenience of weekly payouts, acknowledging the vital contribution you make.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
  • Provide support with mobility, transfers, and light exercises as directed.
  • Prepare and serve nutritious meals, adhering to dietary restrictions and preferences.
  • Perform light housekeeping duties such as laundry, tidying living areas, and bed making.
  • Remind clients to take medications as prescribed (medication reminders only).
  • Engage clients in social activities, conversation, and recreational pursuits.
  • Accompany clients to appointments or outings as needed.
  • Observe and report any changes in the client's condition or behavior to the care team.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment.
  • Document care provided accurately and in a timely manner.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Demonstrated empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow care plans and communicate effectively.
  • Physical ability to assist with client transfers and mobility (e.g., lifting, bending, standing).
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of a certified Personal Care Assistant (PCA) or Home Health Aide (HHA) program.
  • Previous experience in home care, long-term care, or a similar caregiving role.
  • Knowledge of basic nutrition and meal preparation for diverse dietary needs.
