Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Part-time Scrap Sorter to join our team for weekend shifts at our heavy industrial facility in Sacramento, CA. This role is crucial to our operations, involving the manual sorting and segregation of various types of scrap metal. Key Responsibilities

  • Manually sort and segregate different types of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal.
  • Identify and separate materials according to quality and company specifications.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Assist with general material handling and site maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Operate basic hand tools and potentially light machinery after proper training.
  • Work effectively as part of a team to achieve daily production targets.

Required Skills

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including standing, lifting, bending, and reaching for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail for accurate material identification and sorting.
  • Reliability and punctuality for scheduled weekend shifts.
  • Commitment to working safely in a heavy industrial environment.
  • Basic communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to changing operational needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a heavy industrial, recycling, or manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with different types of metals and their properties.
  • Forklift certification or experience operating similar material handling equipment (a plus, but not required).
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
